Susan combines the role of Executive Coach with a background of over 20yrs of corporate experience, including at senior management level for a major investment bank in Hong Kong, Asia, and Europe. She has also spent several years managing in the high-end hospitality industry (UK).

Her experience has given her a deep understanding of the complex financial
and technological drivers imposed on executives, as well as the power of effective communications (both client facing and teams) across all organisational levels. Throughout her career she has been identified as an individual who can facilitate business change, identify individuals’ hidden talent, enable them to improve performance, and resolve conflicts to achieve effective sustainable solutions.

Susan’s early career was in Hotel Management in London after gaining a Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management from Portsmouth University in UK. She was recruited by an exclusive private members’ club in London as the first female manager, and quickly found her place as a team builder and a hands-on mediator dealing with difficult situations. She was made responsible at an early age for the turnaround of the failing restaurant, which she achieved with the existing staff, through training, addressing non-financial motivators, and rebuilding relationships between teams. Working in the service industry instilled Susan with a very clear understanding of the critical links between the motivation and engagement of individuals, the impact to a team’s performance, a focus on client satisfaction, and the desired direct impact on revenues.

Susan retrained in Systems Analysis, and began her career in Technology, initially as a Trainer delivering accredited software courses for a systems house in London. This was followed by a several years as a Systems Engineer aligned to the sales team, to provide customised change process consultancy resulting from the implementation of new technologies across organisations.

On the basis of her IT experience and proven skills with managing change Susan joined the IT Systems division of BZW (later to become Barclays Capital) London Head Office. Arriving in the year of the stock market crash of 1987 she worked on a range of IT projects to streamline the flows of information and improve processing tasks, across divisions and functions, from front to back office. She has worked within most business units – Equities, Corporate Finance, Underwriting, Settlements, and Fund Management.

As a Systems Analyst her work was focused on devising and implementing new procedures to incorporate existing business processes within leading edge technology. She provided advice, coaching and support to divisions of over 120 from Board level to front line executives.

Susan transferred to the HK office in 1993, initially as the Business Analyst to assist the Equities business in their rapid expansion in Asia. Her first major project was to manage the operational merger (IT, operations & training) of the new Seoul operating entity. As Assistant Director – IT Susan managed a team of in-house developers, and facilitated the HK roll-out of global IT projects. Susan’s focus over the following years was addressing change management issues resulting from planned Systems implementations resulting from the rapid growth in the HK office from 150 to 440 employees within 2yrs.
