Michael joined Synergy Global in 2019, as a Social Scientist, Group Analyst, & Executive Coach. He is a noted expert in the leadership of transformational organisational change, especially in knowledge-intensive & public service organisations. He holds a PhD in Organisational Behaviour (focused on the leadership of organisational change) from Imperial College London, University of London, UK.

An international Director at leading business schools, Michael works with Executives & their teams on the personal, team, & strategic dimensions of leadership in delivering transformational organisational change.

As Senior Faculty at University of Oxford Saïd Business School, King’s College London, Warwick Business School, and the University of Melbourne, he coaches & mentors Executives across banking, health, NGOs, consultancies & public services.

Before his business school career, he held senior clinical, leadership, & policy adviser roles in the UK health sector. He worked as a lead Consultant Psychotherapist & Clinical Director in Manchester, Liverpool & London Teaching Hospitals, most recently at St Thomas Hospital.

He brings a distinctive approach to coaching, integrating in-depth psychological perspectives with business school insights on strategic leadership & complex organisational change.

He has over 25yrs experience as an Exec Coach, working with agencies such as PPC Worldwide, the Institute for Applied Health & Social Policy, the UK National Health Service (NHS), & the Oxford Saïd Business School.

He specialises in interdisciplinary teams & creating sustainable culture change in knowledge-intensive and public service organisations.  His research is published in leading Financial Times ‘Top 45’ outlets & is passionate about using research-led knowledge leadership to create positive and sustainable change.

Michael’s most recent research, published by Oxford University Press, focuses on the personal & strategic dynamics of major organisational change in the UK health sector.

He is an elected fellow of several international learned societies, including: The Royal Society of Medicine, The Royal Anthropological Institute, & The Higher Education Academy.
