Dr Peter Ellyard joined Synergy Global in 2009 as a futurist, strategist & leading international consultant, author & speaker. He is a graduate of Sydney University (BSc.Agr) & of Cornell University (MS, Ph.D).
He is currently Chairman of the Preferred Futures Institute & the Preferred Futures Group, which he founded in 1991. He also chairs the Sustainable Prosperity Foundation & is involved in the establishment of a number of startup ‘green’–companies which aspire of doing economically well by doing ecological good.
Peter is the former Executive Director for the Australian Commission for the Future & has been a CEO for a number of public sector organisations, including two associated with Environment/Planning, & one with Industry & Technology. He was also Chief of Staff for an Environment Minister in Canberra for 3 years.
He is Adjunct Professor of Intergenerational Strategies at the University of Queensland & a Fellow of the Australian College of Educators, the Environment Institute of AUS & NZ, plus the Australian Institute of Management. He is an elected Member of the International Union of Associations, based in Brussels, which has 45,000 international NGO associates. He is also a Director of Green Cross Australia.
Peter has been a Senior Adviser to the United Nations system for more than 30 years, including to the 1992 Earth Summit where he advised on both climate change & the biodiversity conventions. He has also been a senior consultant to the UNEP, UNDP & UNESCO.
He is the author of the best-selling books Ideas for the New Millennium (1998, 2001) & more recently Designing 2050: Pathways to Sustainable Prosperity (2008). He is an enlightening & thought provoking - helping the Synergy Team as an inspirational speaker, mentor coach & consultant.
